Chicken Frike Stew

  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 small whole chickens or 2 kg, cut each into 8 pieces
  • 3 medium onions, cut into large cubes
  • 3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 6 cups water or 1½ litres
  • 1½ cups frike, washed well
  • 1 small cinnamon stick
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 3 cubes MAGGI® Chicken Bouillon
  • Pinch of salt, to taste
  • Pinch of ground pepper, to taste

How to Prepare

  1. Heat oil in a large pot, fry chicken pieces till they change slight color. Remove and set aside.
  2. In the same pot, add the onions, garlic and fry for 4 mins.
  3. Add water, frike, cinnamon, black pepper and MAGGI® Chicken Bouillon cubes. Cover and cook on low heat for 20 mins.
  4. Return the chicken pieces to the pot, and cook for another 40 mins or until the chicken and frike are well-cooked.
