Chicken Sanuna

A traditional chicken preparation with standard dry spices and tomatoes in large quantities looks lovely and is rich with the tartness of tomatoes. A must try for the chef in you.


  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 medium onions or 250 g, chopped
  • 1 whole chicken, cut into 8 pieces
  • 250 g okra, large, trimmed and cut into halves
  • 3 medium tomatoes or 450 g, peeled and chopped
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 4 tablespoons adeny chili mixture, (Adeny besbas)
  • 6 cups water or 1500 ml
  • 2 small green chili peppers, chopped
  • 2 cubes MAGGI® Chicken Bouillon
  • 2 large potatoes or 600 g, cut into large cubes
  • 1 cup coriander leaves or 75 g, chopped

How to Prepare

  1. Heat oil in a large pot, add and cook onions for 3 mins or until they become tender. Add chicken pieces, stir and cook for 5 mins.
  2. Add the fresh okra, stir for another 3 mins then add tomatoes, tomato paste, adeny chili mixture, water, green chilies and MAGGI® Chicken Bouillon cubes.
  3. Bring to boil, cover and simmer for 15 mins.
  4. Add potatoes and coriander, simmer for another 15-20 mins or until potato and chicken are tender.
