Frike Chicken Stew with Artichoke

  • 500 g skinned chicken breast fillets
  • 7 cups water or 1750 ml
  • 2 or 300 g medium onions, cut into small cubes
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1/2 cup frike or 75 g, washed and drained
  • 2 cubes MAGGI® Chicken Bouillon Less Salt
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 100 g artichoke bottoms
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

How to Prepare

  1. Place chicken pieces and water in a large saucepan. Bring to boil and skim froth as it appears.
  2. Add onion, garlic, Frike, MAGGI® Chicken Bouillon Less Salt cubes and cinnamon. Simmer covered for 1 hour or until Frike and chicken are cooked.
  3. Season with black pepper then add artichoke, lemon juice and simmer for another 10 minutes or until artichokes are cooked.
