Frike with Cream of Chicken Soup

A nutty variant to the oh-so-comforting cream of mushroom soup. Specially flavored with Arabic spices, this one is a win-win for family and guests alike. A real treat for all.


  • 250 g skinned chicken breasts
  • 1 medium onion or 150 g, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 1/3 cup or 50 g Frike, washed and drained
  • 6 cups or 1500 ml water
  • 1 small cinnamon stick
  • 1 sachet MAGGI® Cream of Chicken Soup
  • 1/2 cup water or 125 ml, extra quantity
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

How to Prepare

  1. Place chicken, onion, garlic, Frike, water and cinnamon stick in a large saucepan. Bring to boil and simmer for 1 hour or until Frike is cooked. Remove cinnamon stick.
  2. Dissolve MAGGI® Cream of Chicken Soup in ½ cup or 125 ml water then stir in the Frike. Season with salt and pepper to taste and simmer for another 8 minutes.
