Mudardara Recipe | MAGGI® Arabia

  • 6 cups water or 1500 ml
  • 2¼ cups green lentils or 400 g, washed and drained
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium or 125 g onion, sliced
  • 2 cubes MAGGI® Vegetable Bouillon
  • 1 cup or 200 g American rice, soaked for 1 hour and drained
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon powder

How to Prepare

  1. Place the water and the green lentil in a medium saucepan and bring to boil. Cover and simmer over a low heat for 10 mins or until lentils is halfway cooked. Drain lentils from water and place lentils in a large platter aside (keep the lentils stock aside too).
  2. Warm olive oil in a medium pot, fry onion for 4 mins or until onion becomes golden in color. Add MAGGI® Vegetable Bouillon, soaked rice and the spices and stir for few seconds. Add 2½ cups or 625 ml from the reserved lentils stock and the boiled lentils.
  3. Bring to boil with constant stirring. Cover and simmer for 20-25 mins or until rice and lentils are completely cooked and water is completely evaporated.
